Royal Wedding PUB Windows
I was commissioned by The Drink Company’s Special Projects team, Matt Fox and Adriana Salame-Aspiazu, to design large scale windows for a Pop-Up bar installation. The theme of the multi-week pop-up was in celebration of the Sussex’s royal wedding in 2018, with the aim of creating an immersive experience for a wedding watch party and following celebrations. A portion of the installation was dedicated to their rendition of St. George’s chapel, where the royal couple were married.
I had previously worked on another immersive experience with this company and was aware of the layout and flow of the event space. They needed windows that would fit above the side rail and were evocative of the stained glass ones in the chapel, but featuring all the coats of arms of members of the Order of the Garter at the time. Each coat of arms is detailed and unique, and because they were going to be used on a large scale, each one needed to be vectorized and placed individually to not reduce the quality of the art.
After researching the chapel’s stained glass windows, I brainstormed creative ways to develop a modified version that would fit the client’s needs. Low fidelity mockups were shared with the team to confirm the base design, followed by edits and more detailed versions. Once approved, I prepped and shared a print-ready packaged file suitable for large-scale reproduction. I was able to see the finished windows myself while attending their Royal Wedding watch party, which was featured in both local and international news outlets and publications.
