Donatr App, General Assembly UX Design

Donatr is an app concept I built out for General Assembly’s UX Design course. The app’s aim is to connect people who have items to donate with places that have a need for them; such as local organizations, community centers, schools, shelters, charities, and other NGOs. The overarching goals of this app are to reduce waste, promote community involvement, and direct donated items to where they’re needed most.

The course covered various UX design principles that we put to practice while developing our apps. Students conducted a series of user tests and research that included storyboard sketches, interviews, user personas, low-fidelity wireframes, several card sorts, paper prototype tests, and competitive analysis. Findings from each of these stages influenced the development of the user flows (both primary and secondary), the hierarchy and organization of the app’s sitemap, and its user interface design. We concluded the course with a working prototype of our app using InVision, and presented a pitch for our app demonstrating our understanding of what we’d learned.
